The Academy Is... Machester, 19th April 09

Another gig down in Machester, the good bands have to start playing in Glasgow again. The doors opened for Give It A Name at 4, but there were to be 4 bands on before TAI so we arrived about half 5, still way to early but I got nervous!
Most of the support was dreadful - screamo, ska, and political 'punk' is not what I wanna hear! Poor TAI, they didn't exactly fit in! The support band called Lights were not too bad though, quite fun! TAI were, as always, brilliant. The crowd was not so cool, more boys than girls, which I'm not used to, they always wanna push and create circle pits....why?

They played:

Summer Hair = Forever Young
Checkmarks
Slow Down
Big Mess
Same Blood
Neighbours
About A Girl

It was an excellent idea for then to play Same Blood, I love that song. They whole set was great, just too short. Apparently they played their 'more hardcore' songs because of the other bands on the bill, so says Carden anyways, and Michael reckons they didn't wanna get beaten up! Their set finished about half 8 so it was really early when we left the venue and cos it was still so early the only thing to do was wait at the back door. Butcher came out first, mostly just for a smoke but he stayed and chatted for a while. Then Mike came out, he is such a cool guy. I think he would talk forever if he was allowed, and I love him for it. He accidentally looked very serious in one girls photo, so for mine he reckoned we should just go all out serious, we look pretty ridiculous! Michael came out next, lovely as always, I don't remember him being so tall and thin though.
After a suitably diva-esque delay, William came out for a few minutes, although we almost never noticed! I don't think he was in a particularly chatty mood but still charming and beautiful!
Excellent night!
